†A Flower:
Richard Sweeney was born and raised in Huddersfield, England. A keen academic, he was pressured to apply for Oxbridge by his college tutors, but instead opted to pursue a career in the creative arts. From 2002-03, he studied at Batley School of Art and Design, discovering a natural talent for realising three-dimensional form through hands-on material exploration.Combining the use of hand-craft with computer aided design, Richard produces sculptural works in paper, using multiple, identical units to create modular forms. He places an emphasis on simple complexity, inspired by mathematical patterns of growth in nature. A skilled photographer, Richard uses the camera to document his work and create photographic compositions that often suggest an architectural scale.
Richard has started a paper garden for B O U D I CC A with one most unusual flower.. His work is accurate and elegant, beautiful and sharp. The growth to more hybrids, a paper corsage, floating fauna, will be shown in Dover Street Market early next year.
